Fall 2026 UC Carpentries: organizing, teaching, promoting

UC Carpentries is running a two-week online workshop series this fall, September 8 through 23, 9am to noon Pacific over Zoom. Eleven instructors and five helpers from across UC campuses are teaching Tidy Data, Unix Shell, Git, R, Python, OpenRefine, and SQL, plus a Sharing Research Software session built with UC OSPO Net.

I’m doing the parts of instruction that don’t show up in a lesson repo: built and maintain the workshop site, ran the instructor sign-up and scheduling, and sent outreach to UCLA’s advisor, faculty, and student-group contacts. I’m also teaching a session.
